The uprising of 15 Khordad, which took place after the arrest of Imam Khomeini (RA) on 13 Khordad 1342, followed by the massacre of the imperial regime in the streets of Tehran and all over the country, was in fact the foundation and the origin of the Islamic Revolution in Bahman 1357, and the first It sparked the overthrow of the imperial regime.
The origin of the 15 Khordad uprising comes from the role and position of the Shiite clergy in Iranian society and the people's adherence to them. Because during the last 100 years of contemporary history, the revolutionary militant clergy mobilized the masses of the Muslim people of Iran against them due to the anti-Islamic policies and programs of the Qajar dynasty and the Pahlavi dynasty. During these 100 years, the Shiite understanding of political issues gradually changed, and with the politicization of people's public opinion, the spirit of fighting against the tyrant regimes was at the forefront of their movements. First, the tobacco uprising was formed against the economic domination of foreigners (England). Then the justice-seeking and law-seeking thoughts crystallized in the constitutional revolution and the constitutional constitution. The oil nationalization movement was also an anti-colonial struggle that had a wider scope than the tanbacco uprising.
In the morning of the 15th of Khordad, the news of the arrest of Imam Khomeini (RA) reached Tehran, Mashhad, Shiraz and other cities and created a situation similar to Qom. The people of Varamin and surrounding towns flocked to Tehran. Tanks, armored vehicles, and military forces clashed with the crowd at Varamin intersection to prevent protesters from entering the city and killed a large number of marchers. A large crowd gathered around Tehran's bazaar and the city center and marched towards the Shah's palace with the slogan "either death or Khomeini". From the south of Tehran, a flood of people had moved towards the center
Examining the remaining documents and letters during the Khordad 15 movement suggests that Imam Khomeini considered the abolition of the laws of the state and the king to be necessary for the formation of a national-Islamic movement in the body of Iranian society. and they tried to bring different Iranian guilds and tribes from every city and country with them, and they considered the key element to attract this support to be awareness of the issue that in every practical action and every letter left by the Imam in that era, explicitly or At the same time, it has an appearance. Therefore, it can be said that the grand model of Imam Khomeini for creating transformation in the country is to create a general popular movement based on awareness. Perhaps the same term "movement" can be used for it, because in Islamic rationality, the characteristic of the movement is "public movement based on awareness".
On June 15, martial law was established in Tehran and Qom, but despite this, large demonstrations were held in the following days, which in each case led to bloody clashes. With the arrest of the leader of the movement and the brutal killing of people on 15 Khordad 1942, the uprising was apparently suppressed.
