natural cave

Osveh, Cultural Institute of Qur'an and Atrat Osveh, Tehran,

AlisadrHamedancave is one of the largest caves in Iran and one of the few water caves in the world that can be sailed by boat, which has the longest sailing route. This cave, which dates back to millions of years ago, is located in the village of Ali Sadr in Hamadan and is one of the most amazing natural attractions in Iran and the world.
This cave, which is one of the most beautiful sights in Hamadan, has hundreds of thousands of domestic and foreign visitors throughout the year.
This cave is also known as one of the largest water caves in the world and it dates back to the second geological period, the Jurassic period (190 to 136 million years ago). AliSadrCave was registered as the 23rd natural monument in Iran's natural heritage list on January 17, 2007.
AliSadrCave was formed completely naturally and no human hands were involved in its construction. In the context of how the cave was created, it can be said that as a result of the combination of water from raindrops with carbon dioxide gas in the air, weak carbonic acid is formed and its penetration into the limestone ground and chemical reaction creates an unstable compound called calcium bicarbonate.
Since calcium bicarbonate is a water-soluble substance, it creates voids within thick limestone layers. These spaces have expanded and joined each other for millions of years, and thus this amazing masterpiece of existence, AliSadrCave, was created in the heart of the earth.
The discovered parts of AliSadrCave in Hamedan consist of corridors, halls and narrow and winding corridors. Some of these corridors are dead ends and some are connected to each other. Tourists pass through these corridors by boat and watch the wonders of the cave.
There is a large and full lake in the central part of the cave, which can only be crossed by using a boat. The water of the cave lake is supplied from underground springs and continuous water fall from the wall and ceiling of the cave, which generally originates from the place of atmospheric falls.
The water of Ali Sadr Cave lake in Hamadan has no color and taste. The results of physical and chemical tests on the water of the cave show that its chemical compositions are close to each other in different parts of the cave and due to the presence of many lime salts in the water, it is not drinkable.
The excess water of the cave is directed to the outside of the cave by different threads; Therefore, the water level is uniform during different seasons and years, except when there is a shortage of water. In times of water scarcity, the water level fluctuates, the effects of which are clearly visible on the cave wall.
In the past, this cave was a refuge for the people of Alisadr village and its surrounding villages during the invasion of evildoers and enemy forces in internal and external wars.
AliSadrCave is a living and consolidated cave with a lifespan of several million years, which has not experienced any kind of collapse.Although many years have passed since the discovery of AlisadrCave, there are still many parts in the cave where tourists and boaters cannot enter.
