The Portuguese Tis Castle is one of the most visited tourist attractions in Chabahar. The reason for this is its age and its beautiful view facing the sea, where you can take beautiful photos and enjoy. To go to this castle, you have to go to the village of Tis.
On the coast of the Oman Sea, traces of two big towers can be seen on the sides. The right tower, which is located in the south, is in the form of a room with a porch and a king's seat, which is built on a rectangular cube pyramid, and a tower with a minaret is placed on it, and a minaret with a height of 6.5 meters remains. remained.
The materials used in the construction of Tis fortress are oranges, bricks, stones and plaster, and the works and decorations of bricks and stones are left around the garlands. This minaret is used for observation, and because it has the necessary nobility over all the bays of Tis mouth, and at the same time, it can be seen from a long distance in the sea.
The decorations around the Chinese brick minaret are similar to the style of the Seljuk period minaret decorations, although they have been lost, but Arabic and Kufic script patterns can be seen from the effects of ridges and depressions. The size of the rooms is usually 4 x 3 meters or less, which are located around or on four sides of a wide area.
The story of this castle is that the Tis Castle of the Portuguese has nothing to do with the Portuguese, contrary to popular belief, and was only occupied, destroyed and used by them.
Tis Castle was one of the most important protective castles of the Pars Sea and the second center of the Achaemenid Navy, and its age reaches more than two thousand years.
Tis Castle is a source of elegance and pride of ancient Iran and shows Iran's control over the seas at a time when ship technology was at the disposal of several powers.
The Portuguese, who called themselves the emperor of the seas and had managed to dominate the south of Iran in a short period of time, and used these forts to protect themselves against the possible rebellions of the Iranian porters.
But the period of Portuguese rule in Iran was not very long and in 1622 the Iranians were able to take back their ports from the Portuguese and lower their flag. Now only a few castles remain from the time of Portuguese rule, which have become one of the most attractive historical attractions of the city.
It is interesting to know that the wood used in the main roof of Tis fort in Chabahar is a type of wood that cannot be found in Chabahar and it is believed that it was brought to Chabahar from other cities when this fort was built.
This fort also has a large courtyard where traces of a water tank and a well are still visible.
If you want to visit this historical attraction in your travel plan to Chabahar, you must first reach Tis village in the northwest of Chabahar. When you start moving from Chabahar, you will have about 13 kilometers to reach Tis and you can reach this village in less than 20 minutes of driving.

Unfortunately, the Portuguese fortress of Tiss is not well protected and is being destroyed and collapsed. But still visiting this historical work is so attractive that travelers who are on their way to Chabahar do not miss it.
