simple life

Osveh, Cultural Institute of Qur'an and Atrat Osveh, Tehran,

One of the topics that has a significant impact on the individual, social, material and spiritual life of a person is simplicity and contentment, which unfortunately has received less attention, while in terms of religious culture, it is considered one of the sublime values.
The increasing growth of the factors of power and wealth and the promotion of consumerism in the current era have increased the risk of turning to a luxurious life and sinking into the swamp of the world.
The Islamic lifestyle based on simple living is a middle way that rejects extravagance, extravagance, miserliness, and austerity, and Islam has supported it. As a result, simple living is a kind of capital. Considering the limited life and various human needs, man should invest for his lasting needs.
The simplicity of life desired by Islam is a dignified and true simplicity of life, which is not compatible with the incorrect perceptions of some people. Unfortunately, in all times, there have been and are false religious people who, due to lack of complete understanding of religious teachings, forbade God's blessings on themselves, wore old clothes, and created a disheveled, impolite and angry appearance for themselves.
Some may think that simple living is in conflict with appearance, but there is no conflict between the two.
Imam Khomeini (may Allah be pleased with him) who was a model of simple living in the present age, cared about his appearance and the cleanliness and beauty of his clothes and always used perfume.
According to Islam, simple living is a spiritual value. The religious leaders valued simplicity and contentment and praised simple people.
The philosophy of simple living is sympathy and practical participation in the sorrow of the poor. If the members of the society, especially the managers and leaders of the society, choose a simple life, they will both touch the pain and suffering of the deprived and have caused pain to them.
One of the effects of simple living is achievement and success in life. This statement does not need an argument, we have seen in our experiences that most of the inventors, explorers and elites of the society who have served humanity, were from the deprived or middle class.
With the tendency to live a luxurious life, consumption costs increase and it is natural that legitimate ways are not enough.
The Holy Qur'an considers pleasure to be the cause of downfall, nobles and wealthy people have always been the first to oppose the prophets.
Many expenses are not based on real desires and needs. One of the results of staying away from simple living and luxuries is to suffer from extravagance, and the reason for this is bad habits, baseless comparison and imitation of foreign culture, etc. And this is what Islam has forbidden.
The Holy Qur'an says: Eat and drink and do not be extravagant, for God does not like extravagant people.
The presence of additional ceremonies and various customs has caused marriage, which is the tradition of the great Prophet (PBUH) and brings peace to the family, mental health and general chastity in the society, to be delayed and dear young people cannot start a family at the right time. While by removing the ceremonies and turning to the simple life that Islam wants, especially in the important matter of marriage, it is possible to provide the means for many young people to get married.
The institutionalization of simple living in the society as one of the moral values, requires the provision of a suitable platform and context
