Salt has a hot and dry temperament that can eliminate the dampness and coldness of the stomach.
Cold temperament is a temperament that is accompanied by laxity and inactivity.The colder the stomach becomes, the lazier it is and the slower it is in digesting food and feeling full.Eating a little bit of sea salt before eating makes the stomach warm and active before eating, and its moisture and heaviness are also removed and it is ready to digest the food completely.This prevents sourness and feeling of heartburn after eating and helps a person in maintaining stomach health.After salt enters the mouth, the glands around the mouth are stimulated and their secretion increases, so the food is digested faster and prepared for swallowing and final digestion.When salt enters an empty stomach, it stimulates the gastric glands and produces a lot of secretions, in this case, salt causes the food to be swallowed and digested quickly and has complete absorption.
Imam Baqir (a.s.) says: 70 pains can be treated with salt, and if people knew the effect of salt, they would not treat it except with it.
Scientifically speaking, it has been said that using a little salt before eating stimulates the digestive glands, and as a result of the stimulation of the digestive glands, people want to eat and develop appetite. So, in this case, salt before food causes an increase in appetite.
Muscle cramps often occur in older adults and athletes. Exercise, fluctuations in body weight, pregnancy, electrolyte imbalance and loss of salt in the body are among the causes of this problem.
Intensive physical activity in the summer heat is one of the important reasons for involuntary muscle cramps. Athletes lose about 4 to 6 teaspoons of salt per day through excessive sweating. Eating foods that are natural sources of salt may reduce the severity of muscle cramps.
